A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point, Dharamshala: My Simple Biryani Stop

A simple biryani stop in Dari, Dharamshala with Hyderabadi-style biryani, good portions, quick service, and a food-focused vibe.

I found A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point around one to two years ago. I was just roaming around Dharamshala city, and this place was just starting at that time.

I had seen this place before also, but not very carefully. Then one day, I wanted to eat something good, so I decided to visit this place and try their biryani.

When I visited for the first time, the owner was very friendly and welcoming. He patiently explained to me that they serve different kinds of biryanis and that they make authentic Hyderabadi-style biryani.

I asked him what kind of biryani they serve, and then I ordered the Hyderabadi dum biryani. And honestly, I was amazed by the taste. Especially the chicken inside the biryani, it was cooked perfectly.

Since then, I have been a regular visitor. Whenever I crave biryani or want to eat a filling dinner in Dharamshala, A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point is one of those places I usually think about.

Where Is A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point Located?

A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point is located in Dari, Dharamshala, near Govt ITI Dharamshala on Barol Road. So if you are planning to visit, it is better to search the name directly on Google Maps and follow the latest location.

The place is easy to visit if you are around lower Dharamshala, Dari, Shyam Nagar, or nearby areas.

They also have parking space, so you can park your two-wheeler or four-wheeler, which makes it convenient if you are coming by bike, scooter, or car.

What This Place Feels Like

This place has a very simple and straightforward feeling. It is not a fancy cafe or a highly decorated restaurant, but that is what I like about it.

The main focus here feels very clear: serve good biryani, serve fresh food, keep the service fast, and give people a good food experience at a reasonable price.

The owner is very friendly and welcoming, and the staff also feels professional. Every time I have visited, the service has been fast and smooth. I have never seen people waiting for a table, and the place has a good number of seats with enough space.

For me, the best thing about this place is that it does not try to be something extra. It is simple, and food-focused.

What I Tried Here?

I have tried quite a few things here over time. Some of the main things I tried are A1 special biryani, chicken dum biryani, mutton biryani, lemon chicken, chicken burani, chicken pakoda, and fish pakoda.

What They Serve?

Along with biryani, they also serve many snacks and starters. Some of the items they serve include chicken 65, chilly chicken, chicken majestic, chicken pakodi, kaju chicken, chicken burani, chilly paneer, paneer 65, chilly mushroom, and many more.

For biryani, they have many options like chicken dum biryani, chicken fry piece biryani, chicken wing biryani, chicken boneless biryani, mutton biryani, A1 special biryani, egg biryani, paneer biryani, mushroom biryani, and more. Swiggy also lists items like A1 Hyderabadi Special Chicken Biryani, boneless chicken biryani, mutton biryani, and spicy chicken wings on their online menu.

How Was The Biryani?

My experience with their biryani has been amazing. It is honestly one of the best biryanis I have eaten.

I cannot claim that I know the taste of every kind of biryani, but I do love biryani, and I have tasted many kinds of biryani in different places. For me, their biryani feels authentic, fresh, aromatic, and very satisfying.

The rice, masala, aroma, and chicken all come together really well. The chicken inside the biryani is cooked nicely, and that is one thing I noticed from my first visit itself. Their biryani is served with salan, raita, onion, and lemon salad, which completes the meal properly.

The biryani is a little on the spicier side, so if you do not like spicy food, it is better to ask them before ordering. But if you enjoy flavourful and spicy biryani, then you may really like it.

Price And Portion

Their pricing feels reasonable when you compare it with the taste, serving, portion size, and overall experience. Zomato lists the average cost around ₹450 for two people, excluding taxes and charges, which also gives an idea that the place is not very expensive for a biryani meal.

The portion size is also good. If you are not a heavy eater, one full biryani can be more than enough. In fact, two normal-eating people can also share one full biryani. And if you are a heavy eater, then one full biryani should still be enough for you.

So yes, if someone is on a very strict budget, it may feel slightly higher compared to very basic local food. But otherwise, for biryani, portion size, service, and taste, I feel the place is budget-friendly.

Is It Good For Travellers?

Yes, I think A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point is good for travellers, especially if you are roaming around Dharamshala and want to eat something filling, flavourful, and different from regular cafe food.

Dharamshala has many cafes, Tibetan food places, local dhabas, and restaurants, but if you are craving biryani, then this place can be a good stop. It is especially good for people staying around lower Dharamshala, Dari, Shyam Nagar, Khanyara side, or nearby areas.

If you are visiting McLeod Ganj or upper Dharamshala, you may need to come down towards the Dharamshala/Dari side, but if you really want to try biryani, it can be worth it.

What I Liked About This Place

The first thing I liked was the taste of the biryani. It feels fresh, aromatic, and properly cooked. The chicken inside the biryani is one of the main reasons I liked it from my first visit.

The second thing I liked is the owner. The person who owns the place is very friendly and welcoming. The first time I visited, he served me, explained the biryani patiently, and also asked for feedback. Even now, whenever I visit, he behaves in the same friendly way.

He seems hardworking and kind. I have seen him being aware of whether customers need anything, and if the staff is busy, he serves the food himself. That shows his commitment and dedication towards his work.

I also like that the place is simple, not overly expensive, and focused on food. It feels like a place where they care more about serving good biryani than creating a fancy setup.

Things To Keep In Mind

The place usually closes around 9 to 10 pm, depending on food availability. If the biryani is finished, they may close earlier, so it is better not to go too late.

Their biryani is a little spicy, so if you do not like spicy food, ask them before ordering. Also, in my opinion, it is better to dine in there for the best experience. Fresh biryani served hot with salan, raita, onion, and lemon tastes better when you eat it there itself.

They also offer takeaway.

Nearby Places To Explore

If you are visiting A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point, you can also explore nearby areas depending on where you are coming from. Dari, lower Dharamshala, Khanyara, Shyam Nagar, and the Dharamshala city side are nearby local areas you can check out.

If you are making it part of a day out, you can also combine it with places like Norbulingka Institute, Khanyara, Juhal , Aghanjar Mahadev Temple, or lower Dharamshala market. It can also be a good dinner stop after exploring the city side of Dharamshala.

My Honest Take

For me, A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point is one of my regular biryani places in Dharamshala. I found it randomly while roaming around the city, tried their biryani once, and since then I have kept going back whenever I crave biryani.

I like the taste, the portion size, the fast service, the friendly owner, and the simple food-focused vibe of the place. I also like that they serve different kinds of biryanis and snacks, so it is not only limited to one or two items.

If you are in Dharamshala and want to try Hyderabadi-style biryani at a reasonable price, then I think A1 Hydrabad Biryani Point is worth visiting. For the best experience, I would suggest dining in, ordering the biryani fresh, and enjoying it with salan, raita, onion, and lemon.
